Sue Jones is a veteran in the field of competitive cross country and road racing. She has been a competitive runner for over 30 years and has completed 11 marathons, including The Boston Marathon, and was the Women’s Masters Winner of The Foot Locker Cross Country Southeast Regional Championships for 2 consecutive years. She has also completed the Promise Land Ultra Marathon. Coach Jones continues to compete in road races in Central Virginia and is currently the vice-president of the Lynchburg Roadrunners.
Sue Jones' history includes being an active member of the Lynchburg Roadrunners since 1985. She has been involved with youth athletics since 1998, serving as a tester for the President's Fitness Challenge. In 2001, Coach Jones started the Peaks View Pacers, a cross country team for home schooled runners. She has seen her team grow each year and she now fields both full middle and high school teams. Sue has taken several of her athletes to the Foot Locker Cross Country South Championships as well as to the USATF XC Junior Olympics. Coach Jones is still currently coaching and managing the Peaks View Pacers.
Sue continues her love for running and coaching by having taken and passed the Road Runners Club of America adult running Coaches Seminar. Now, as a Certified Running Coach, Coach Sue Jones hopes to pass along her love for running to those whom she will coach.
